System Requirements

e-fission Manufacturing has been written using FileMaker Pro Advanced as a development platform. It comes in three modules for increased security: Manufacturing, Payroll, and Banking. It can be used in single-user mode, requiring only one copy of FileMaker 8.5 or above, or in the preferred configuration, using FileMaker Server on a dedicated network server and FileMaker on each workstation.

System Requirements:

FileMaker 8.5 or above

Macintosh:

Mac OS X 10.4.8

PowerPC G5 or Intel-based Mac

1 GB of RAM

CD-ROM drive

Windows XP Professional (with current service pack)

Pentium IV 1.5 GHz or higher

1 GB of RAM

CD-ROM drive

SVGA (1025 x 764) or higher resolution video adapter and display

Windows Vista Ultimate, Business

Pentium IV 1.5 GHz or higher

2 GB of RAM

SVGA (1025 x 764) or higher resolution video adapter and display

CD-ROM drive

Additional Networking Requirements (all platforms)

  1. FileMaker Server 8.5 or greater, with Macintosh Intel chip or Pentium IV, 2 GB RAM

  2. CAT 6 or above cabling from server to each workstation (cabling should be consistent with industry standards); fiberoptics give real-time results and are unbelievably fast

  3. Each client requires a licensed copy of version 8.5 or 9 of FileMaker Pro software.

  4. As in any high-speed network, faster is better. The individual workstations and the server should not be cluttered up with extraneous applications not required for business use. We are happy to recommend network configurations and have more than 25 years of experience in setting up high-speed WANs and LANs.

  5. This is a cross-platform application; workstations can be a mixture of hardware and operating systems.

  6. Wideband Internet capability is recommended for maximum functionality (e-mailing from the program, accessing Web sites, etc.), but is not required except for off-site data entry.

  7. We will provide on-site consultation and installation if desired; call us for a quote.

Additional Hardware

  1. We recommend the Symbol USB barcode readers for entering task data from work orders on the shop floor.
